Social networking for Dogs?  I found a device that allows dogs collars to swap information about each dog and owner. This link takes you to the review of the new device Social Networking for Dogs Review .  It is amazing at what people can come up with.  I have no idea how I will play into technology and saving animals.  I continue to research what is out there, what is being done, and try to imagine what I can bring to the table.

Combining my passion for animals and my work would be the first time that I have merged the two.  Previously, I have not made pieces of work about animals.  I do have a friend from Herron with that tried to make work about animals.  It was difficult for her to work with animal shelters.  They do not want negative pieces being shown; they only want positive material being shown.

After reading Stephanie's blog I never thought of Advertising equal to Saving Animals, but now I can.  I enjoyed reading her thoughts relating the selling of animals to permanent loving non-abusive.  Right now, I am just unsure what my part will be.

  1. That sounds like a really neat device. I like the fact that it gives you a chance to connect with other dog owners and share advice. I think most people don't really take the time to research how to properly take care of a dog before they get one. Or at least not in great detail. Having a place to go to talk to other dog owners is a really good idea.

  2. I wonder if Animal Control in Indianapolis would work with you on a documentary on abused animals, or something less bright and shiny than what the shelters would want you to portray. Those documentaries are hard to watch, but they get the message out there.

  3. Amanda I went to Herron myself so I know exactly what you are talking about. I have a Bachelors Degree in General Fine Arts and graduated in the year 2002. I went to the old Herron on 16th and Penn. which is now a high school I believe. You should take a look at my work sometime at rickjmorris.com. You know how cows are butchered and tossed into nets? On a side note I remember a particular painting of a human hanging from the ceiling by a net with no flesh. I thought it was funny when my mom was shocked at the site of this painting and others as she was visiting the art school. Is this what you are paying the big bucks to go to art school for? I told her mom I did not paint that, but I was like her I wondered what was going on inside the painter’s mind when she or he was painting this. It made me think of animal rights for some reason.
